MVP for December — Steve Swaim
| Meet Steve Swaim, a patient representative in the Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplant Program in the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute. In the course of his work, he puts into practice the UAMS values of integrity, respect, diversity and health equity, teamwork, creativity, excellence and safety. Please read what one of his nominators wrote about how he does that:
Steve is an exemplary team player. He is kind and friendly to everyone, including our patients. He is always willing to assist in anything that anyone may need and ensures he has covered everything. He is always respectful and considerate when he calls our patients to inform them of their upcoming stem cell transplant consultation appointments.
He is the first voice our new patients hear when coming for stem cell transplant consultation appointments, making them feel very welcome at UAMS Cancer Institute. I sit near him and enjoy hearing him on the phone with patients. Steve makes me smile, and you can tell he cares. I feel very fortunate to work with Steve. He is an asset to our team, the Cancer Institute, and UAMS.
At the chancellor’s next cabinet meeting, the university will present Steve Swaim with a certificate and monetary award. In the summer, UAMS will honor him and other awardees at the annual MVP luncheon.
