MVP for May — Michael Arnold

By News Staff

Mike has been with UAMS Nutrition Services for over 16 years. No one takes care of the little things in the cafeteria the way Mike does. He helps guests who are lost get back on the correct elevator. He also assists with moving chairs out of the way (for wheelchairs to be able to get to the tables) and will help them bag it if they do not eat in the cafeteria. Here are some examples of how he represents the UAMS Core Values and is the smiling face of our university and its employees.

Integrity – Mike has the highest standards of honesty. I have seen him chase people down the hallway to return a set of keys or a bottled drink that was left on the condiment station.

Respect – He is always a smiling, caring person who is genuinely interested in the well-being of those he serves. The level of respect he shows for others is one of his endearing qualities that makes him one of the most liked and known people on our campus.

Teamwork – Mike supports the Project Search program by training the interns as they rotate through the cafeteria. He is always willing to give his co-workers a helping hand.

Excellence – He is constantly wiping tables, emptying trash cans, and restocking the condiment island.

Safety – Mike is quick to address spills or slippery areas.

UAMS will recognize Mike in several ways as this month’s MVP. Look for his photo on the Employee Appreciation Wall outside the Chancellor’s Suite in the Central Building. A Faces of UAMS video will feature him, and the university is giving him some great UAMS swag. At one of my cabinet meetings, Mike will receive a certificate and monetary award and UAMS will honor him and other awardees at the year-end MVP luncheon.

Please congratulate Mike for being the MVP of the Month!
