| Patients undergoing blood cancer treatment at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute will benefit from a recent act of kindness to help them through the process.
Subaru of Little Rock delivered 80 blankets and 30 patient care kits to the Cancer Institute’s Patient Support Pavilion on June 27 as part of its Subaru Loves to Care campaign. Subaru partners with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to distribute blankets and messages of hope to hospitals and cancer treatment centers throughout the United States to aid blood cancer patients and families.
“This partnership reflects Subaru’s deep commitment to supporting patients and families affected by blood cancer,” said Myeloma Center clinical director Frits van Rhee, M.D., Ph.D.
This is the eighth year that Subaru of Little Rock has made donations to UAMS.
“These blankets will bring not only warmth and physical comfort to our blood cancer patients but also emotional

comfort to let them know others are thinking of them during the challenges of treatment,” van Rhee said.
Subaru of Little Rock received the 2025 Subaru Love Promise Customer and Community Commitment Award, which recognizes Subaru retailers who provided exceptional customer service and have demonstrated outstanding commitment to their communities.
“For us at Subaru of Little Rock, this partnership with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute and the Myeloma Center is extremely valuable,” said Landon Montgomery, Subaru of Little Rock’s general manager. “We understand the difficult time patients are facing and the treatment they’re receiving, and we want to help provide them with comfort and warmth through the blanket donation.”
Subaru and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society have supported nearly 500,000 blood cancer patients nationwide over the past 10 years.
“We are committed to giving back as part of the Subaru Loves to Care campaign and are grateful for the ability to make a difference,” Montgomery added.
Van Rhee praised the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s contributions to UAMS and their role in the fight against blood cancer.
“The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society donated more than $1 million in financial assistance to UAMS blood cancer patients in 2024,” he said. “They’ve invested more than $1.8 billion in groundbreaking research since 1949, which has pioneered many of today’s most innovative approaches to treating blood cancers.”
“Subaru and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society joined forces to donate comforting blankets to patients at UAMS, offering warmth and hope during treatment,” said Scarlett Culpepper, the Arkansas Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s campaign development manager. “This heartwarming experience has shown how powerful it is when communities come together to help patients feel seen, heard and supported in their fight.”
“Our patients love getting these blankets and are very appreciative and touched by the thoughtfulness of Subaru of Little Rock and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society,” van Rhee said.
