MVP for July — Vernon Spencer

By News Staff

Vernon has been working in Environmental Services for several years. I would see him doing his job in the Rahn Building. I would stop and talk to him. We discussed many things including the pandemic. What struck me most about Vernon is his dedication to doing his job and doing it well. He has a no-nonsense approach to completing his work and ensuring that things are done just right. At the same time, he’s very friendly and always waves to me and others to say hello.  He’s the kind of person who doesn’t seek attention and may not always get noticed but works hard behind the scenes to provide essential support for UAMS and its mission. He’s the kind of employee that keeps UAMS in business. Vernon is starting a new position at UAMS as part of the grounds crew. I know he will continue to bring the same commitment to that position. I look forward to seeing him around campus and continuing our conversations.

UAMS will recognize Vernon in several ways as this month’s MVP. Look for his photo on the Employee Appreciation Wall outside the Chancellor’s Suite in the Central Building. A Faces of UAMS video will feature him, and UAMS will honor him and other awardees at the year-end MVP luncheon.

Please congratulate Vernon for being the MVP of the Month!
