UAMS Hosts Oct. 16 Spinal Neurosurgery Lecture

By Linda Satter

Andrew Jea, M.D., MBA, a professor and chair of neurosurgery at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, will present a lecture on advances in neurosurgery on the 12th floor of the Jackson T. Stephens Spine & Neurosciences Institute on the Little Rock campus.

The title of the lecture is “Veritate Duce Progredi: Neuromuscular Scoliosis.”

Jea, who also serves as chief of pediatric neurosurgery, is a nationally recognized complex spine and pediatric neurosurgeon. He specializes in minimally invasive techniques to treat spinal deformities, scoliosis, spina bifida, tethered cord syndrome and brachial plex injuries.

Parking will be available in Parking 3, located at 4030 W. Capitol Ave., near the institute.

A reception will follow the lecture.

The Flanagin-Boop lectureship honors the legacy of Stevenson Flanagin, M.D., former chair of the UAMS Department of Neurosurgery, and Warren C. Boop, M.D., who together built the neurosurgery residency program at UAMS.

The event will also be livestreamed via Zoom. To receive the link to participate virtually, and to learn more about continuing education credits, visit: https://medicine.uams.edu/neurosurgery/events/flanigan-boop/.
