MVP for October — Pam Buckner
| Meet Pam Buckner, RN, the MVP for October. Pam is a a UAMS Emergency Department Transitions of Care manager. In the course of her work, she puts into practice the UAMS culture of being polite, friendly, respectful, thoughtful, optimistic and compassionate.

I am pleased to nominate Pam Buckner for recognition of their outstanding contributions to our institution. She plays a vital role in connecting Emergency Department (ED) discharges to primary care follow-up, ensuring continuity of care for some of our most vulnerable patients.
As the primary point of contact for high ED utilizers, Pam consistently goes above and beyond to address both medical and social needs. One notable example involves a patient who visited the ED more than a dozen times this year. Pam not only followed up after each visit but also worked tirelessly to connect the patient with a local primary care provider. Pam coordinated with social workers, behavioral health, and other team members to help the patient secure safe housing, obtain medications, and establish appropriate follow-up care.
Their dedication has led to improved primary care engagement, reduced ED utilization, and demonstrates the success of comprehensive, wraparound care. Their efforts have had a measurable impact on patient outcomes and highlight the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration within our institution. Our service line is stronger and more effective because of her commitment. I highly recommend Pam Buckner for this recognition.
UAMS will recognize Buckner in several ways as this month’s MVP. Look for her photo on the Employee Appreciation Wall outside the Chancellor’s Suite in the Central Building. A Faces of UAMS video will feature her, and UAMS will honor her and other awardees at the year-end MVP luncheon.
