College of Pharmacy Adds Two Faculty Members
| The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Pharmacy recently welcomed Reaid Hasan, Ph.D., and Tamer Kaoud, Ph.D., as new faculty members.
Both join the College of Pharmacy as assistant professors of pharmaceutical sciences.
Hasan recently completed his doctorate in pharmaceutical sciences from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where he was a graduate research assistant and graduate teaching assistant. At UAMS, he will focus on teaching pharmacy students about pharmaceutics, helping them connect foundational scientific principles to the practical realities of pharmacy practice.
“I am excited to join the College of Pharmacy and be part of an academic community committed to excellence in education, research and patient care,” Hasan said. “I look forward to contributing to the training of future pharmacists and engaging in meaningful work that supports the health and well-being of our communities.”
Kaoud received his doctorate in chemical biology and medicinal chemistry from the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to arriving at UAMS he was a research assistant professor at the University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy, as well an associate faculty member with UT Health Austin’s Livestrong Cancer Institutes at Dell Medical School. His work focuses on developing new cancer therapeutics through targeted therapies and precision medicine approaches to improve patient outcomes.
“I’m thrilled to join the College of Pharmacy at UAMS, where I’ve found an exceptionally welcoming and collaborative environment,” Kaoud said. “With the support of Dean Stowe and Dr. John Imig, I have the resources and guidance necessary to establish a robust research program and continue the work I initiated at UT Austin. I believe my expertise aligns well with this vibrant scientific community and its commitment to advancing biomedical research.”
