UAMS’ Trauma Director Kyle Kalkwarf, M.D., Appointed to Editorial Advisory Board for The Permanente Journal

Kalkwarf will serve as a trauma and critical care adviser to the journal’s editor-in-chief and as a surgical consultant to the publication’s editorial team.

An associate professor in the UAMS Division of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery, Kalkwarf is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma (AAST). He is board-certified in general surgery and surgical critical care by the American Board of Surgery and is certified in acute care surgery by the AAST.

In addition to his roles at UAMS, he serves as medical director for the Central Arkansas Trauma Regional Advisory Council and as a trauma center site reviewer for the American College of Surgeons.

The Permanente Journal is a peer-reviewed journal of clinical medicine and health care delivery science published by The Permanente Federation, the leadership organization for a national network of multidisciplinary health care providers. The journal advances clinical and scientific knowledge “by enabling barrier-free access to peer-reviewed research in evidence-based medicine, integrated health care, value-based care and health care delivery systems innovations,” according to its website.
