Cardiac Electrophysiology Expertise Now Offered at UAMS Health Family Medical Center in Fort Smith

LITTLE ROCK — The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Health Heart Center now offers comprehensive cardiology services at the UAMS Health Family Medical Center in Fort Smith.

The services are provided by cardiologists Subodh R. Devabhaktuni, M.D., Risheek Kaul, M.D., and Paul Mounsey, M.D., Ph.D. Cardiology services will be offered on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month.

Devabhaktuni specializes in the treatment of heart rhythm disorders such as atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia and ventricular tachycardia.

Kaul specializes in the medical and ablative treatment of a wide range of heart rhythm disorders including atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia and ventricular tachycardia and Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome.

Both are board-certified in internal medicine, cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology.

Mounsey is a nationally recognized leader in electrophysiology who received his doctorate in physiology with an emphasis on cardiac muscle biophysics and is fellowship-trained in cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology. He has served on the editorial boards of Heart Rhythm, the Journal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology and the Journal of Electrocardiography.

The team is also equipped to handle pacemakers (both transvenous and leadless) and cardiac defibrillators.

As part of the UAMS Health Heart Center, Devabhaktuni, Kaul and Mounsey use the most advanced treatments and procedures to treat a wide range of heart conditions, including cardiac arrest, device management of congestive heart failure, pacemakers, syncope or passing-out spells, palpitations or skipped beats, heart valve disease associated with rhythm issues, and slow, fast or irregular heart rate problems such as atrial fibrillation.
