Laura Hanson

By Ben Boulden

Laura demonstrates a strong commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for new team members. When two employees joined the Environmental Health and Safety team, she ensured their arrival experience reflected the same level of care we provide to patients and visitors. Without direct reporting responsibility, Laura took initiative to gather UAMS swag and prepare welcome items at each desk prior to the employees’ first day.

This thoughtful gesture helped establish a positive first impression and reinforced a culture of respect and belonging. The ability to influence the human experience in such a meaningful way—without significant cost—reflects a deep commitment to UAMS values.

Laura consistently demonstrates a willingness to go beyond assigned responsibilities to support colleagues. By taking initiative and modeling inclusive behavior, she contributes to a stronger, more connected team environment. Her actions set an example for others and reinforce the importance of compassion in the workplace.

UAMS will recognize Laura in several ways as this month’s MVP. Look for her photo on the Employee Appreciation Wall outside the Chancellor’s Suite in the Central Building. A Faces of UAMS video will feature her, and UAMS will honor her and other awardees at the year-end MVP luncheon.

Do you know someone who should be the next MVP? If you have someone you’d like to nominate, please visit go.uams.edu/mvp/ and fill out the form.

Please congratulate Laura for being the MVP of the Month
