Primus Mbawuike, M.D., Pharm.D., Joins UAMS Health Family Medical Center in Pine Bluff

Mbawuike completed his family medicine residency at the UAMS South Central Regional Campus in Pine Bluff in 2024. He earned his pharmacy degree from Xavier University of Louisiana in 2003 and his medical degree from UAMS in 2016.

Mbawuike most recently was an emergency room physician with CHI St. Vincent and a nocturnist physician at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff where he managed inpatient care and emergency response overnight. As a pharmacist, Mbawuike was a pharmacy manager with CVS Health in Texas and a staff pharmacist for retail pharmacies in Arkansas and Ohio. He also worked as a pharmacist at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

In addition to caring for patients, Mbawuike will train future family medicine physicians as an assistant professor with the UAMS South Central Family Medicine Residency Program.
