UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute to Host Aug. 20 Town Hall in Blytheville
| LITTLE ROCK — The public is invited to a community town hall meeting on cancer clinical trials, as well as prevention and screening at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 20, at Arkansas Northeastern College, 2501 S. Division St., in the John Sullins Building, Room A101, in Blytheville.
Hosted by the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute Community Outreach and Engagement team, the free event will share information with area residents about new clinical trial opportunities, current cancer screening guidelines, available screening options, and foster dialogue about barriers residents may face in getting screened.
Attendees will also learn about statewide cancer patient navigation services, cancer research initiatives, and clinical trials available through the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS).
Snacks will be provided. No preregistration is required.
“Our mission is to meet people where they are, listen to their experiences and provide them with resources that can truly make a difference in their health,” said Dan Dixon, Ph.D., associate director of Community Outreach and Engagement for the Cancer Institute. “Events like this town hall allow us to partner directly with communities to improve cancer prevention, early detection and access to care across Arkansas.”
