| LITTLE ROCK — Fellowship-trained noninvasive cardiologists Mohammad Fahad Salam, M.D., and Lalith Vardhan Namburu, M.D., have joined the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Department of Internal Medicine’s Division of Cardiology.
Salam joins UAMS from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where he completed his cardiovascular medicine fellowship with a focus on structural imaging.
“Dr. Salam is an extremely skilled cardiologist who will substantially add to our cardiac imaging expertise at UAMS,” said Srikanth Vallurupalli, M.D., professor and chief of the Division of Cardiology in the UAMS Department of Internal Medicine.
Namburu joins UAMS from the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center at the University of Texas in Houston, where he completed his cardio-oncology fellowship. He finished his cardiovascular fellowship at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee.
“Dr. Namburu will spearhead our cardio-oncology and preventative cardiology programs,” Vallurupalli said. “As cancer survivorship has improved, these patients face unique challenges in maintaining good cardiovascular health over the long term. He will work closely with our cancer team at UAMS to provide comprehensive cardiac care.
“Together,” Vallurupalli said, “they add significantly to our clinical mission to improve access to high-quality cardiovascular care for Arkansans and our educational mission to train the next generation of medical professionals.”
Salam received his medical degree in 2018 from Aga Khan University in Karachi, Pakistan, and completed his residency in internal medicine at Michigan State University/Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan.
Namburu received his medical degree in 2017 from Siddhartha Medical College in India and completed his residency in internal medicine at East Tennessee State University.
