Pyliea Foster
| Meet Pyliea Foster, the MVP for November and a Lobby Cafe cashier in Nutrition Services.
In the course of her work, she puts into practice the UAMS culture of being polite, friendly, respectful, thoughtful, optimistic and compassionate. Read what her nominator said:
I am proud to nominate Pyliea Foster for the UAMS MVP Award in recognition of her extraordinary response during a medical emergency involving a fellow employee on July 30, 2026.
Pyliea recognized that her coworker was not acting normally and immediately went to assist her. When the employee suddenly began to collapse, Pyliea instinctively placed her own body between her coworker and the hard concrete floor, supporting her and preventing what could have been a significant head injury. She then remained on the floor, partially underneath her coworker, using both arms and hands to carefully support the employee’s head and position her safely while emergency responders arrived.
Two responding Assistant Directors of Nursing witnessed Pyliea’s actions and specifically praised her calmness, judgment, compassion, and selflessness. In an unexpected and rapidly evolving emergency, Pyliea did not hesitate to put another person’s safety ahead of her own comfort and well-being.Her actions went far beyond the normal expectations of her position and exemplified the UAMS values of Compassion, Attention, Respect, Empathy, and Service. Most importantly, her quick thinking and decisive intervention likely prevented her coworker from suffering additional serious injuries.
UAMS will recognize Pyliea in several ways as this month’s MVP. Look for her photo on the Employee Appreciation Wall outside the Chancellor’s Suite in the Central Building. A Faces of UAMS video will feature her, and UAMS will honor her and other awardees at the year-end MVP luncheon.
