Glaucoma Specialist Inci Dersu Joins UAMS Faculty

LITTLE ROCK – Inci Dersu, M.D., a glaucoma specialist, has joined the College of Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) as an assistant professor in the Department of Ophthalmology.


 


A fellowship-trained specialist, Dersu received her medical degree in 1988 from Hacettepe University School of Medicine in Ankara, Turkey. She was previously on the staff at Istanbul Eye Hospital in Istanbul, Turkey. She will see patients at the Harvey and Bernice Jones Eye Institute at UAMS, the John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital and Arkansas Children’s Hospital.


 


Her clinical interests include new imaging devices that assist in the detection of glaucoma as well as medical and surgical treatment of the disease. She completed a glaucoma research fellowship at the University of California in San Diego in 1996 and another fellowship in glaucoma at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City in 2002.


 


Dersu is a member of the American Board of Ophthalmology and the American Glaucoma Society and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
