Fishing Tournament to Benefit UAMS Family Home

LITTLE ROCK — Fishing enthusiasts of all ages are invited to participate in the Fourth Annual Suds Big Lunker Classic benefiting the Family Home at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS).


 


The tournament is scheduled for 6 a.m.-2 p.m. April 8-9 at the Russellville State Park on Lake Dardanelle. Cost is $80 for one day or $150 for two days. To register, call (800) 860-2811 or visit www.sudsbiglunkerclassic.com.


 


Prizes include $15,000 to the participant catching the largest bass. Other prizes will be awarded, including $2,000 guaranteed per hour. Children age 17 and younger may compete free with an adult entry or pay full price to compete for overall prize money. The tournament is sponsored by Suds Car Wash.


 


The UAMS Family Home provides temporary affordable housing in a home-like setting for parents of infants in the UAMS neonatal intensive care and patients receiving outpatient treatment at the Arkansas Cancer Research Center.


 


UAMS is the state’s only comprehensive academic health center, with five colleges, a graduate school, a medical center, five centers of excellence and a statewide network of regional centers. UAMS has about 2,320 students and 690 medical residents. It is one of the state’s largest public employers with almost 9,000 employees, including nearly 1,000 physicians who provide medical care to patients at UAMS, Arkansas Children’s Hospital and the VA Medical Center.
