Public Invited to Free Senior Housing Fair, Lunch at Bella Vista Schmieding Center

“Options in Senior Housing” was organized in response to the growing number of older adults in Arkansas, and its goal is to provide the latest information on housing.

The event is sponsored in part by the Bella Vista Schmieding Center, a satellite of the Schmieding Center for Senior Health and Education of Northwest Arkansas, which is part of the Arkansas Aging Initiative, a program of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Donald W. Reynolds Institute on Aging.  The Bella Vista Property Owners Association also is a partner, and Apple Blossom Independent Retirement Living will provide a free lunch to the first 100 attendees.

More than 25 exhibitors will participate.

• “Options in Senior Housing: An Overview of Subsidized and Non-Subsidized Housing in NWA,” Vicki Watts, director of Senior Housing, Area Agency on Aging (AARP), and Brenda Anderson, associate director, Community Development Corporation
• “Reverse Equity Mortgages: What They Are and Are They Right for You?” Steve Allen, mortgage loan officer, Liberty Bank of Arkansas.

Exhibitors will include area realtors; independent, catered and assisted living providers; nursing homes; AARP; Arkansas Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD); and other agencies related to building, remodeling and relocating.

The event also is made possible with financial support from Humana, Concordia Retirement Center, Legacy Village Greenhouse Assisted Living, AARP, Autumn Place Assisted Living, Innisfree Senior Living Community and Presidential Conversions, Inc.
