Staff Cereal Drive Haul Represents 652 Boxes
| The staff of H4 trauma/surgical/cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, including nurses and nursing assistants, harnessed their own generosity and combined it with that of numerous other donors to provide a plentiful donation of cereal to the Arkansas Food Bank.
After unit staff made nominations, they participated in a poll to pick a community service project, and the results paired them with the hunger relief organization. From the end of May through late June, they collected boxes of cereal and cash donations for the drive. In the end, their total of physical boxes and cash donations represented 652 cereal boxes donated.
While the organizing and collection were done by the leaders of the Unit Based Council, contributions came in from all corners and included physician and APN providers, occupational, respiratory and physical therapists who work with the unit.
Representatives of the team were welcomed to an awards ceremony hosted by the Arkansas Food Bank and covered by THV 11 on July 11.
“While we did not place for our division (nonprofit organizations), we enjoy performing community service projects that help impact the well-being of our community and were proud to represent UAMS and H4 T/S/CV ICU,” said Allison Lord, clinical services manager. “Our staff enjoys giving back. It was great to provide resources for those in our community who face food insecurity.”
