Patent Attorney Joins UAMS BioVentures
| LITTLE ROCK – Patent attorney Christopher Fasel has joined the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) BioVentures program as a licensing associate.
Fasel facilitates licensing and license transfers of UAMS-based discoveries. UAMS technologies and intellectual property are licensed to startup companies sponsored through UAMS BioVentures or may be acquired by outside companies, typically medical and pharmaceutical companies.
The BioVentures Technology Licensing Office also supports UAMS researchers in identifying, disclosing and patenting their inventions.
Fasel most recently was a patent attorney/licensing assistant at the University of Missouri Office of Technology Management in Columbia, Mo. His experience enables him to assist BioVentures’ outside legal counsel on patent prosecution and evaluation, legal opinions and legal action.
UAMS BioVentures began operation in 1997. Today, 25 UAMS startup companies are providing 532 jobs with a $26.5 million annual payroll.
