UAMS to Sponsor Midsouth Summit Black Expo Feb. 25

The expo is scheduled for 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Feb. 25 at the Clear Channel Metroplex Event Center, 10800 Colonel Glenn Road. Admission is free. For information, call the UAMS Cancer Control Program at (800) 259-8794.

Featuring the theme “I am the Picture of Health,” the expo will include free health education and blood pressure screenings, live entertainment and more.

Prostate cancer screenings for men age 40 and older who qualify and mammograms for women age 40 and older who qualify will be available. Extended hours are offered for the screenings and preregistration is requested in advance by calling (800) 259-8794.

Boys and girls ages 11-18 may receive free vaccinations to protect against Human Papillomavirus (HPV). HPV is the most commonly sexually transmitted infection and can cause cervical cancer in women and genital warts in men and women. Parents requesting the vaccine, which is part of a three-shot series, are asked to bring their child’s vaccination record.
