Insight Offered into Lung Cancer Prevention and Treatment at Nov. 7 Symposium
| LITTLE ROCK – Health care professionals, patients, caregivers and others interested in advances in preventing, diagnosing and treating lung cancer are invited to the Fifth Annual Lung Cancer Symposium on Nov. 7 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 201. S. Shackleford Road.
Registration will begin at 7 a.m. Cost to attend is $40 for the general public, $65 for health care professionals seeking continuing education credit and $20 for students. To register in advance or view the agenda, visit www.tobaccoanddisease.com. Registration also will be available at the door.
Topics will include e-cigarettes; the impact of lung disease on women; types of lung cancer; secondhand smoke and nonconventional tobacco devices; the importance of second opinions; and lung cancer’s effect on families.
Speakers include UAMS physicians and other health care professionals specializing in lung cancer and other lung diseases, as well as the family of an Arkansas man who lost the battle with lung cancer.
The event is co-sponsored by the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), the Arkansas Department of Health/Stamp Out Smoking, the Arkansas Cancer Coalition and the Arkansas Biosciences Institute.
