UAMS Chooses John Erck as Vice Chancellor of Institutional Advancement
| LITTLE ROCK — John Erck has been selected as the vice chancellor of Institutional Advancement at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), effective Aug. 23.
“I look forward to working with John,” said Cam Patterson, M.D., MBA, UAMS chancellor and CEO of UAMS Health. “He has accomplished impressive things at the University of Arkansas, and I am confident his efforts at UAMS will help support our mission of achieving a better state of health for all Arkansans.”
Erck joins UAMS from the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas, where he is the senior director of development and external relations, a position he has held since 2013. In that position, he led the college’s highly successful Campaign Arkansas development efforts.
“As the state’s only academic medical center, UAMS plays an important role in the health and well-being of Arkansans,” said Erck. “I look forward to the chance to support the great work being done at UAMS.”
Prior to joining the Walton College of Business, Erck served as director of development for the University of Arkansas Athletics for nearly four years. Erck came to UA from Vanderbilt University, where he was the director of major gifts and the associate director of athletic development.
Erck graduated from the University of Kansas’ William A. White School of Journalism with a Bachelor of Science in business communication. He earned his Master of Arts in sport administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he later worked as the assistant director of membership for the university’s Rams Club. Earlier this year, he earned a proven leader certificate from the Walton College of Business.
A believer in giving back to the community, Erck serves on the board of Economics Arkansas, a private nonprofit educational organization to promote economic literacy in Arkansas, and the Donald W. Reynolds Boys & Girls Club of Fayetteville. In 2014, Arkansas Business named him one of their 40 Under 40 honorees.
Erck succeeds Angela Wimmer, who left UAMS in April.
