Chancellor surprises Whitney with the MVP.

Chancellor Cam Patterson surprises Whitney Byles with the university’s MVP Award for October 2023.

There is no one more deserving of the MVP award than Whitney Byles. A dental assistant in the UAMS Oral Health Clinic, Whitney is the first person to volunteer to help a colleague with a heavy patient load, and she always does it with a smile. She’s encouraging, kind, thoughtful, respectful, and eager. When work needs to be done, you can count on Whitney already to be right in the middle of it. Patients light up when she walks in the room.

She is extremely respectful and polite and has a genuine desire to create meaningful, personal connections to her patients. She knows when they vacation, who their sister is, how their mom is doing.

Whitney takes the utmost pride in her work. Her face lights up when she learns something new, excels at a new procedure, or receives a compliment on her work. She is always looking for ways to learn and grow her skills to improve clinical outcomes for herself and her coworkers. Her positive energy is contagious, and Whitney excels at making the UAMS OHC the best place it can be.

UAMS will recognize Whitney in several ways as this month’s MVP. Look for her photo on the Employee Appreciation Wall outside the Chancellor’s Suite in the Central Building. A Faces of UAMS video will feature her, and the university is giving her some great UAMS swag. At one of the chancellor’s cabinet meetings, Team UAMS will present to Whitney a certificate and monetary award and honor her and other awardees at the year-end MVP luncheon.

Please congratulate Whitney for being the MVP of the Month!
