Pedro Demeritte

By Ben Boulden

In the course of his work, he puts into practice the UAMS culture of being polite, friendly, respectful, thoughtful, optimistic and compassionate. Read what his nominator said:

I have watched Pedro provide excellent and compassionate care for the patients. In the weeks where he was the only tech on the floor of 30 patients, he was very respectful and did his best to attend to patients’ needs, including the ones that required total care. He covers for other techs when they are busy and helps nurses and other staff as needed. On his down time, Pedro often assists in answering the call lights, doing pharmacy runs to pick up medications that cannot be sent via tube station, and stocking the unit with the needed supplies, such as gloves, masks and gowns. His work ethic is excellent and his service to patients is commendable. I nominate him, taking into consideration also, the comments and appreciation from patients and co-workers about his qualities. His award will boost Pedro’s morale and that of everyone else that works with his.

UAMS will recognize Pedro in several ways as this month’s MVP. Look for his photo on the Employee Appreciation Wall outside the Chancellor’s Suite in the Central Building. A Faces of UAMS video will feature him, and UAMS will honor him and other awardees at the year-end MVP luncheon.

Do you know someone who should be the next MVP? If you have someone you’d like to nominate, please visit go.uams.edu/mvp/ and fill out the form.

Please congratulate Pedro for being the MVP of the Month!
