From the Director
| I am pleased to present the latest issue of Myeloma magazine as we highlight the outstanding work of the Myeloma Center staff and bring you inspiring stories from wonderful patients who trust the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) with their care.
UAMS Myeloma Center clinical director Frits van Rhee, M.D., Ph.D., leads a highly dedicated group of health care professionals. Thanks to their tireless efforts, multiple myeloma treatment has evolved to the level where patients have an improved quality of life and increased chances of complete remission.
Translational research is a key component in the quest towards a cure for multiple myeloma. Fenghuang (Frank) Zhan, M.D., Ph.D., directs an exceptional program that continues to redefine treatment of this complex disease.
The cover story features Don Wilson, DVM, a multiple myeloma patient who along with his wife, Melissa, created a fund to support multiple myeloma research at UAMS. We also spotlight the enthusiastic volunteers who help our newly diagnosed patients navigate their first day on our expansive campus.
The UAMS Myeloma Center remains a world-renowned destination for multiple myeloma care. We appreciate your support.
