Michael Manley, MNSc, RN, Named Assistant Dean in UAMS College of Nursing
| Michael Manley, MNSc, RN, has joined the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Nursing as assistant dean of community engagement and faculty practice.
Manley, an alumnus and longtime employee of UAMS, will help the College of Nursing build partnerships with healthcare organizations and community stakeholders throughout the state while creating practice and service opportunities for students and faculty members. He also will serve as a representative for the College of Nursing in collaborations with state and national nursing organizations and with other universities in Arkansas.
“In his new role, Michael will help us strengthen partnerships that advance our mission of education, research, service, and clinical excellence,” said Sarah Rhoads, Ph.D., DNP, dean of the College of Nursing. “His expertise in strategic planning, relationship development, and healthcare innovation will be invaluable as we continue to expand our impact throughout Arkansas and beyond.”
Manley earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from UAMS in 1990 and his Master of Nursing Science in administration and education in 2009. He began working at UAMS in 2003 and has held a wide variety of roles since then, including as director of outreach and government relations in the UAMS Center for Distance Health, director of clinical services integration and development for the UAMS Northwest Regional Campus in Fayetteville, interim vice chancellor of institutional relations, and chief of staff to then-Chancellor Cam Patterson, M.D., MBA.
Most recently, Manley was UAMS’ director of workforce access and navigation, leading an effort to support the health and well-being of employees and dependents not only at UAMS but also at institutions across the University of Arkansas System.
“I’m honored and excited about this opportunity to come back to where my whole professional journey started over 35 years ago,” he said. “The UAMS College of Nursing is special; there’s no institution in the state like it.”
