He has served its Board of Directors for four years and will serve for one year as president-elect before becoming the agency’s president.

Previously, Johnson served on the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Directors for six years. He was active duty in the Air Force for more than 28 years as a biomedical laboratory sciences officer before joining UAMS in 2017.

Under his leadership, the department’s student enrollment has grown exponentially from fewer than 50 students in 2017 to more than 1,300 this semester.

NAACLS is the accreditation agency for ensuring the advancement of education in clinical laboratory sciences and related healthcare disciplines provided by domestic and international programs.
