There was plenty of pink to go around Feb. 7 when UAMS breast cancer survivors were honored by the UALR women’s basketball team at their annual Pink Night.

Five survivors, along with hematologist oncologist Issam Makhoul, M.D., were introduced to the crowd and joined the Little Rock Trojans on the court for the national anthem prior to their game against the Troy University Trojans.

UAMS Volunteers Provide Free Eye Exams, Glasses to Local Students

The 2nd Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Pediatric Vision Outreach at UAMS was a day providing vision care to commemorate a visionary. Nine organizations, four UAMS departments, and two local schools united to provide the opportunity for free eye exams and glasses to students in Little Rock and the surrounding areas.


Living with Sickle Cell, Pine Bluff Woman Retains Joy

Doris Carter, 53, was diagnosed with sickle cell anemia when she was 3.

Doctors told her mother she wouldn’t live past childhood.
