Children’s Tumor Foundation Joins with UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute to Pilot Clinic for Adults with Neurofibromatosis

Erika Santos Horta, M.D., a neuro-oncologist at the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute, will lead the first dedicated Neurofibromatosis Adult Clinic in the region.

LITTLE ROCK—The Children’s Tumor Foundation and the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences are pleased to announce plans for the first dedicated Neurofibromatosis Adult Clinic in the region.

Documentary Details Struggle with Opioids in Arkansas

Johnathan Goree, M.D., is one of two UAMS physicians included in the documentary “7 Days: The Opioids Crisis in Arkansas.”

A documentary dealing with the deadly problem of opioid addiction will premiere Oct. 13 at the 30th annual Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival. The film, which will be available online the following day, features a pair of UAMS physicians who are all too familiar with the hazards opioids pose to the state.

The South Central Telehealth Resource Center, housed at UAMS, has received a three-year grant for $975,000 to fund the expansion of digital health services in rural communities with known health disparities across Arkansas, Mississippi and Tennessee.
