March 22, 2011 | Women and their resiliency were celebrated March 17 at UAMS’ annual Women’s History Month observance. Held in the Fred Smith auditorium at the Jackson T. Stephens Spine Institute, the lunchtime event honored 29 employees nominated as “phenomenal women” by their peers.

Paralyzed on his left side and in the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) intensive care unit, the Rev. William L. Robinson of North Little Rock said he was on the verge of depression. He had seen people crippled for life by stroke, and he didn’t want to become another casualty.
