Joseph Henske, M.D., Joins UAMS to Direct Diabetes Program

He sees patients in the Diabetes Clinic in the Outpatient Center on the UAMS main campus.

Henske is also an associate professor in the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, Department of Internal Medicine, UAMS College of Medicine.

Henske received his medical degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2004. He completed his internship and internal medicine residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago and continued his training with a fellowship in endocrinology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

After completing his fellowship, Henske began practicing at DuPage Medical Group in Chicago, Illinois, where he was promoted to chair of the Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism Department in 2012.

Henske is a member of the Endocrine Society and the American Diabetes Association and has been an active fundraiser for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in the subspecialty of Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Metabolism and is a Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology.

Diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 15, Henske has committed his life to helping others with diabetes better manage their disease and live life to the fullest. He is an advocate for diabetes awareness, helping improve access to medications and technologies for patients, and has been involved in research to one day find better ways to prevent, treat and cure this disease.
