Supportive Conversations Hotline Offers Employees Someone to Talk To

Susan McDougal, director of pastoral care at UAMS, is one of several volunteers for Supportive Conversations, a 24/7 hotline for UAMS employees who need to someone to listen. "Being able to talk to someone who understands what you’re going through and can talk with you through your immediate crisis is so valuable.”

During this stressful time of social isolation in the midst of a pandemic, employees need someone to talk to, said Susan McDougal, director of pastoral care at UAMS.

COVID-19 Testing Draws Hundreds to North Little Rock Drive-thru

Working at the COVID-19 testing drive-thru at Shorter College in North Little Rock, a UAMS nurse takes a minute to enter some patient information into an iPad.

The UAMS Mobile Triage team offered COVID-19 testing to anyone who came to their drive-thru June 30 at Shorter College in North Little Rock, and hundreds of people showed up in response. For a brief time before police could reroute the vehicles, cars and trucks were backed up onto the nearest Interstate 30 off ramp….

UAMS Awarded $940,000 by FCC to Help with COVID-19 Response Across the State

The FCC recently awarded UAMS funding for new purchases of new, digital health technology as well as to reimburse the university for the cost of digital technology like this iPad it already has bought in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has received $940,000 from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for digital health technology to treat patients for COVID-19 and deliver medical information to patients and providers across the state.

Schwartz Rounds Features UAMS’ First COVID-19 Patient

More than 180 employees and students participated in the first virtual edition of the Schwartz Rounds at UAMS. Schwartz Rounds are designed to bring caregivers together to discuss the human elements of health care.

On the one-year anniversary of Schwartz Rounds at UAMS, more than 180 employees and students participated in a virtual edition on June 17. The topic was “COVID Comes to UAMS: Caring for Our First Patient,” and the panel featured three health professionals who helped care for this patient.
