Take 2 is an innovative opportunity sponsored by the Center for Nursing Excellence for direct care nursing staff to submit ideas to eliminate two steps in a nursing process or practice to improve nursing workflow and save time without compromising safety. Submissions opened Aug. 1.

Team UAMS Wears Blue to Thank Health Care Workers during Pandemic
Blue met blue at UAMS and said ‘thank you’ starting at 6 a.m. Aug. 13. More than 50 UAMS volunteers in various articles of blue clothing gathered at three separate campus building entrances to say ‘thank you’ to co-workers, most of whom work in clinical areas and many of them in similarly colored apparel.

Reminder: You Must Wear Your Mask on UAMS Property
Everyone at UAMS, including employees, visitors, faculty and students, must wear their masks at all times on UAMS property, even outdoors or while walking to and from your vehicle or other transportation.
Short-Term Child Care Assistance For Essential Workers
The 2021 Federal COVID Relief Package provides additional funding for child care providers and essential worker child care assistance.

August MVP — Gloria Flowers Williams
The MVP for August is Gloria Flowers Williams, who in the course of her job exemplifies all of the UAMS values of being polite, friendly, respectful, thoughtful, optimistic and compassionate. Gloria is an administrative specialist in the Department of Patient Safety and Relations. Here is what her nominator wrote:

UAMS Celebrates MVP Awardees at Second Annual Luncheon
Chancellor Cam Patterson, M.D., MBA, at a July 28 luncheon thanked and praised UAMS employees who in the last 12 months won an MVP award and whose contributions in earlier years might have gone largely unsung.
Fourth Street Pedestrian, Vehicle Traffic Restricted
The most recent UAMS project (Radiation Oncology Center/Proton Therapy Center) has begun at the intersection of Fourth and Cedar streets. Because of the project, Fourth Street is effectively closed between Cedar and Pine streets and will be for the next two years.
