Veterans were offered tokens of appreciation according to their branch of service.

Active duty, reserve and veterans of the armed forces who are UAMS employees were honored at a Nov. 2 breakfast, just one part of a larger month of celebrations and events planned by the UAMS Veterans Awareness Committee in honor of Veterans Day, Nov. 11.

Culinary Medicine Expert Visits UAMS, Sees Recipe for Success

Culinary medicine works in conjunction with health coaching, nutrition counseling, exercise, medications, and other elements as part of an overall approach to improve a patient’s health and lifestyle, according to Timothy Harlan, M.D., executive director of the Goldring Center for Culinary Medicine at Tulane University.

UAMS possesses all the ingredients for an interdisciplinary approach to culinary medicine, including a wellspring of enthusiasm on the subject, said the founder of a leading center in the area where medicine, cooking, education and healthy living overlap.

UAMS Holds First Vision 2029 Town Hall

Employees used their cellphones to answer survey questions during the Vision 2029 Town Hall.

UAMS held the first of five Vision 2029 Town Halls on Oct. 25 in the Wilson Education Building as employee input was sought for the institution’s next long-range strategic plan. Nearly 100 employees answered questions about UAMS’ strengths, weaknesses and major opportunities for growth in the next 10 years.

UAMS Staff Recognized by International Group for Research Education Efforts

The work of UAMS research staff Melisa Clark, Carrie Chiaro and Amy Jo Jenkins was recently honored by SOCRA.

For a record seventh year in a row, the Arkansas chapter of the international Society of Clinical Research Associates (SOCRA) has been recognized for ensuring the highest quality research by providing the most continuing education hours of any chapter.
