UAMS Opens, Celebrates Schmieding Caregiver Training Site in El Dorado
Oct. 8, 2013 | The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Donald W. Reynolds Institute on Aging today celebrated the opening of the Schmieding Home Caregiver Training Program in El Dorado, providing new opportunities for the elderly to stay in their homes as they age.
Oct. 22 Science Café: ‘Brain Learning — Just Do it’
LITTLE ROCK – Science Café Little Rock, co-sponsored by the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), will hold its next public forum, Brain Learning — Just Do It, on Oct. 22. Panelists will discuss human learning, reasoning and memory as well as brain mechanisms and cognitive processing.

Oct. 8, 2013 | The Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) has exercised two contract options worth approximately $8.7 million with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) to proceed with advanced development of a promising treatment for use in radiological or nuclear emergency situations.

Public Health Researcher Receives Prestigious Award
Alison Harrill, Ph.D., a new faculty member in the UAMS Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health’s Department of Environmental and Occupational Health, arrived on campus last month with the news that she is one of five nationwide recipients of a five-year, $500,000 Burroughs Wellcome Fund Innovation in Regulatory Science Award.

Pooja Motwani, M.D., Joins UAMS Division of Hematology/Oncology
LITTLE ROCK – Fellowship-trained hematologist and oncologist Pooja Motwani, M.D., has joined the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). She is an assistant professor of medicine in the UAMS Division of Hematology/Oncology and sees patients in the seventh floor clinics at the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute.
