UAMS First in State to Use New Brain Tumor Procedure

LITTLE ROCK – A nationally renowned neurosurgeon at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is the first in the state to use a minimally invasive, breakthrough brain tumor removal procedure using a tube-like tool and sophisticated three-dimensional imagery in two successful surgeries.


Joshi Receives National Respiratory Medicine Award

Manish Joshi, M.D., an associate professor in the UAMS Department of Internal Medicine’s Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care, was invited to attend the Canadian Thoracic Society annual convention earlier this year to receive 2013 Norman L. Jones Award for his outstanding research article published in the Canadian Respiratory Journal.

$1 Million Gift to Establish Endowed Chair at UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute

LITTLE ROCK – A $1 million donation to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) will be used to further cancer research and honor a longtime physician. The donor asked to remain anonymous.
