UAMS Medical Technology Program Hosts Open House in Fort Smith

LITTLE ROCK – The medical technology program at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) will host an open house from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 22, at St. Edward’s Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith to discuss the laboratory sciences profession and the growing demand for new technologists.

LITTLE ROCK — Health care providers are invited to participate in a two-day seminar on understanding and treating persons affected by trauma to be held May 4-5 at the Holiday Inn Select, 201 S. Shackleford Road.

“A Call to Service: Minimizing the Effects of Trauma” is sponsored by the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Medicine, the Arkansas Psychological Association and the Arkansas Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers.

UAMS to Offer Free Oral Cancer Screenings

LITTLE ROCK — The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is offering free oral cancer screenings from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. April 21 on the sixth floor of the Arkansas Cancer Research Center (ACRC). Screenings will be conducted by the UAMS Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery.

LITTLE ROCK – A bright and airy atrium in the Biomedical Research Building I on the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) campus is now named for Helen Guinn Adams, who left a more than $8.7 million bequest to UAMS in 2005 asking that the money be dedicated to research.
