UAMS Physician Assistant Studies Celebrates Class of 2024

Joined by family, friends and faculty at an Aug. 23 valediction ceremony, the Physician Assistant Class of 2024 celebrated the completion of their degrees and prepared themselves for the start of their careers in health care.

Winners of College’s 2024 Staff Excellence Awards Named

In April, the College of Health Professions announced the recipients of the 2024 Staff Excellence Awards. Tammy Brooks, executive assistant in the Nuclear Medicine Imaging Sciences and Diagnostic Medical Sonography programs, was the recipient of the Excellence in Customer Service Award. CJ Carrell, college business administrator, was the recipient of the Excellence in Performance Award.
Dental Hygiene Alumnus Starts Fund for Scholarship

Richard Robinson is used to being the only African American, male dental hygienist in the room. About 84% of all dental hygienists are white of which 96% are women. African Americans make up approximately 4% of all hygienists, with African American men accounting for fewer than 1%. Robinson wants to change that.
UAMS/UA Occupational Therapy Program Seeks Funding for a Driving Simulator

Driving gives people added mobility and the ability to live a more independent life. It also is a complex activity that requires a combination of cognitive, perceptual and motor skills. For individuals who have experienced an injury, illness or disability that affects their ability to drive, occupational therapy plays a crucial role in helping them regain their independence and mobility.
