UAMS College of Pharmacy Receives $100,000 for Dean’s Endowed Chair
LITTLE ROCK – The College of Pharmacy at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has received a gift of $100,000 from alumni Karrol and Vicki Fowlkes of Salem to help establish an endowed Dean’s Chair for new academic programs, faculty recruitment and retention, and student leadership activities.

LITTLE ROCK – Ann Riggs, M.D., vice chairman for clinical affairs in the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Department of Geriatrics, has been named the first-ever Medical Director of the Year by the Arkansas Medical Directors Association.

Golf Tournament to Benefit ALS Research at UAMS
LITTLE ROCK – The eighth annual Paul Dunn Golf Classic, to benefit the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences’ (UAMS) search for better treatments and a cure for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), will be held May 19. The tournament is presented by Simmons First, the Jerry Spears Family and C. Lowry Barnes, M.D., Arkansas Specialty Orthopaedics.

April 22 Science Café – ‘Infectious Disease: Truth & Consequences’
LITTLE ROCK – The Science Café Little Rock, co-sponsored by the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), will hold its next public forum, “Infectious Disease: Truth & Consequences,” on April 22. UAMS researchers will describe their study of Staphylococcus bacteria, viruses and tick-borne diseases in Arkansas. Methods of infection and health impacts also will be discussed.

UAMS to Offer Free Oral, Head and Neck Cancer Screenings April 25
LITTLE ROCK — The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is offering free oral, head and neck cancer screenings from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. April 25 on the sixth floor of the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute. Screenings will be conducted by the UAMS Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery.
Cooks Tour to Benefit Cancer Patients at UAMS
LITTLE ROCK – The Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute Auxiliary at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) will hold its 17th Annual Cooks Tour from 1-4 p.m. April 20 in the Deauville neighborhood of Chenal Valley in Little Rock.
