UAMS Breast Cancer Project Receives $40,000 Avon Grant

<p class=”content”><span style=”font-size: 13px; font-family: arial;”>The Avon Foundation Breast Care Fund has awarded a $39,684.00 one-year grant to The Witness Project at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences to increase awareness of the life-saving benefits of early detection of breast cancer. It is the second year that the program has received Avon Foundation Breast Care Fund funding.</span> </p>

UAMS Reports Dramatic Increase in Uninsured Patients, Charges at Arkansas Hospitals

<span class=”content” style=”font-size: 13px; font-family: arial;”>The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) released a new analysis of the impact of health insurance unavailability on Arkansas hospitals March 11, showing that admissions of patients without insurance increased by 30 percent between 2000 and 2001 while the average charges for those admissions increased from $8,185 to $9,268.</span>
